I am a Senior Specialist Scientist in the Burden of Disease Resaerch Unit at the South African Medical Research Council, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Cape Town. I am a visiting fellow at the University of Greenwich in London.
My current research focuses on the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases in sub-Saharan Africa, the analysis of data from large scale population surveys and the application of modelling techniques for the joint analysis of heterogeneous data sources.
I am the Convenor of the Survey Methods module for students enrolled in the MPhil in Health Systems programme at Stellenbosch University and teach Advanced statistical methods for students in the Master of Public Health at the University of Cape Town.
I have active collaborations with researchers in various Institutions, in South Africa and abroad.
